This Privacy Policy describes how the Margins Tracker iOS app ("the App", "we", "our") handles your information. We are committed to protecting your privacy. The App is designed to keep your business data on your own devices and your private iCloud account — we do not operate servers, collect analytics, or sell any data.

1. Information We Collect

The App collects only the minimum information needed to function:

Inventory data you enter — item names, costs, prices, locations, and margin calculations. This data is stored locally on your device using SQLite and synced privately to your own iCloud account via CloudKit. It is never accessible to us or any third party.
Location (optional, one-time) — during onboarding, the App may request your device location solely to suggest a local sales tax rate. Your location is used only in that moment to look up a state tax rate and is never stored, logged, or transmitted to any server. You can skip this step or deny location access with no impact on app functionality.
App settings — tax rates, margin multipliers, and onboarding state are saved locally on your device using iOS UserDefaults. This data never leaves your device except as part of a standard iCloud device backup, which is controlled entirely by your Apple account settings.

2. How Your Data Is Stored

On-device — all inventory entries are stored in a local SQLite database in the app's private Application Support directory, accessible only to the App.
iCloud / CloudKit — inventory data syncs to your private CloudKit container (iCloud.com.leebrosvending.InventoryMargins). This data is stored in your personal iCloud account and is governed by Apple's iCloud Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. We have no access to your CloudKit data.

3. Information We Do Not Collect

We do not collect analytics, crash reports, or usage data.
We do not use advertising SDKs or track you across apps or websites.
We do not collect your name, email address, or any account information.
We do not sell, rent, or share your data with any third party.

4. Third-Party Services

The App uses Apple CloudKit (Apple Inc.) for private data sync across your own devices. Apple's privacy practices are described in the Apple Privacy Policy. No other third-party services, SDKs, or APIs are used.

5. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any personal information from children.

6. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

Common Questions

My data isn't syncing across devices — what should I do?
Margins Tracker syncs via your private iCloud account. Make sure you are signed in to iCloud on both devices and that iCloud Drive is enabled in iPhone Settings → your name → iCloud.

How do I change my tax rates?
Tap the gear icon on the home screen to open Settings, where you can update your sales tax, business tax, and margin multiplier at any time.

Can I export my inventory data?
Yes — open any inventory list, tap the Price Calculator tab, and use the Share CSV button to export your full inventory as a CSV file you can open in any spreadsheet app.

How do I delete an item or list?
Swipe left on any item in the inventory history to delete it. To delete a list, swipe left on the list from the home screen. Note that the default "My Inventory" list cannot be deleted.

Is my data private?
Yes. All your data is stored on your device and in your private iCloud account. We have no access to your inventory data. See our Privacy Policy above for full details.
